The home-opener for Ball State University's softball team has been postponed due to the condition of the field at the BSU Softball Complex.
Coach Craig Nicholson said the field is too wet to play on this week and there is still some snow on the field.
"We would have liked to have played this week but unless there was a miracle and it warmed up to 60 degrees, we knew it wasn't going to happen," Nicholson said.
The game was originally scheduled for Thursday against IUPUI. It has been rescheduled for April 11 at 2 p.m.
"We knew for about a month that it was unlikely we were going to be able to host a game this early," Nicholson said.
Ball State's new home-opener is scheduled for March 28 against Indiana University at 3 p.m.
The postponement also delays Nicholson's first game in Muncie. Nicholson is in his first year as the softball coach at Ball State.
The Cardinals' next game will be at Jacksonville University on March 14.
