Scheumann renovation continues

Time FrameThe long-term construction project for Scheumann Stadium started immediately after the 2006 season concluded Nov. 30.

ProgressThe projected completion date is Aug. 17 and Mark Grasso, Shook Construction's project manager for the construction of Scheumann Stadium, said everything is scheduled to be complete on time.

Shook was running two shifts of workers until the cold weather hit in February. They are currently working six days a week in order to get the project completed.

ConstructionThe project closest to completion is the colonnade in the north end zone. There are five 30-foot columns coming out of the ground and the concrete will be poured on those this week.

Progress has also been made on the concessions and restrooms.

New FeaturesGrasso said when the colonnade at the north end zone of the stadium is complete, it'll be similar to a covered porch.

Concessions and rest-¦rooms will flank both sides of the colonnade.

There is a 97-foot-tall elevator shaft holding two elevators that lead to the club seats, press box and suites. The elevators will be traction, as opposed to the hydraulic elevators in place before.
