Two former Ball State University freshmen football players are no longer students, university spokesman Layne Cameron said.
For confidentiality reasons, he said he could not clarify whether the students withdrew voluntarily or were expelled.
Brandon Houston remains in jail almost two months after both students were arrested for suspicion of robbery, jail officials said.
Eulas Taylor III was released Oct. 30 after paying the $20,000 bond. Houston still has not posted bail.
Houston and Taylor were arrested Oct. 13 under suspicion of burglary of laptop computers in Woody and Shales residence halls, according to police reports.
Both men were suspended indefinitely from the team after their arrests and are permanently off the team because they are no longer students, head football coach Brady Hoke said.
Both men were formally charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of receiving stolen property. If convicted on all charges, they could face a maximum of 46 years each in prison, deputy prosecutor Diane Frye said in an earlier interview. However, the recommended sentence is generally 10 years, she said.
Houston and Taylor await their pre-trial conferences and trials by jury early next year, Delaware County Circuit Court officials said.
