"Freedom loving citizens of the world, ladies and gentlemen of the press, members of the law enforcement, neighbors, friends," and the so called "Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army," this is a column in response to those "clowns" who spoke their freedom of speech.
Now, I will speak mine.
For those of you who are not aware, there was an army of clowns who stood outside of the Atrium and protested the war.
They handed out pamphlets, and one example of the nice bold lettering they had on the cover was, "To hell with President Bush, bring all our soldiers home now."
Sweet, isn't it?
The real military is not clandestine. They do not hide. They are not cowards. Those of us who support our country do not have fake names, faces, or noses. We show our words, dreams and desires are our biographies. By hiding your identity you show that you are ashamed of yourself and what you believe in. If you truly believe in something and you want people to hear it, stop being a coward, take off that bozo nose, and show your face.
Insurgent, are you? If you want to be insubordinate to your country, then I suppose you have that right. You do not have to agree with it, but do you know what respect means? Besides, if we weren't there, the war would be here. Would you prefer that?
You claim history is "always" unknowable. Open a history book; history repeats itself, hence why it's so important that it is taught.
It is interesting that you are a rebel simply because you "love life and happiness more than the war."
I love life and happiness more than the war as well, but I still support the war and our troops. Mothers, fathers, spouses, siblings of soldiers and even soldiers themselves support the war. Does that automatically mean they love the war more than happiness? No - of course not - and you'd be fools to think otherwise.
However, you're very correct about one thing. You are, in fact, clowns. I saw people pointing and laughing at the foolishness and disrespect you showcased.
What else can you be in "such a stupid world?" Other than a clown, you could be thankful that you have had the chance to live in such a "stupid world." Better yet, be blessed you live in America where you are allowed to dress as a clown and protest against your president.
Instead of being a clown, try being an American citizen with a positive attitude.
We are in Iraq whether we like it or not. You dressing up like clowns and writing hateful things about the war and Bush is not going to make him say, "Yes, those clowns are right, send the troops home immediately."
You made a list of why not to enlist and resist the war. I have my own reason to enlist right here: Enlist because you love and respect your country.
I agree the war is a terrible tragedy. Wars aren't meant to be blissful, but war is happening. Have any of you set foot in Iraq? Until you personally have, you cannot bash the reasons for us being there because you have no idea. None of us do. Not even me.
What I do know is, if you live in this country you represent this country, so do it with respect.
Support our troops.
