OUR VIEW: Show up

AT?ISSUE:?Get involved, thank those responsible for putting this week's events together

Today signifies the halfway mark of Homecoming week. This means your Indiana University shirt should be hidden in your closet or - preferably - sitting in your trash can.

If you have been going to the events, keep it up. If you have not been taking advantage of Homecoming activities, it's time to start.

Students not participating in Homecoming week are doing a disservice to their peers.

After all, these events did not organize themselves.

A small, dedicated group of students have and continue to work countless hours to put this week together. They come up with ideas, organize the overall schedule for the week, plan each event and make sure that everything runs smoothly. They do all of this to give every student a reason to participate in Homecoming.

The student body simply needs to show up.

A new event, Music on McKinley, kicks off tonight. Student participation will determine this event's presence in future Homecomings.

It won't take the average student any strenuous planning or extra effort to enjoy Homecoming events. Showing up and enjoying the events is all the Homecoming committee needs students to do.

Take the time to walk down McKinley Avenue and appreciate all the aspects that have been brought together for these three hours.

And some of the more popular events are still to come, including Air Jam on Thursday, Bed Races on Friday and the parade and football game on Saturday.

Homecoming is half over - get involved before the chance is gone for another year.
