LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Bicyclists on campus should be more considerate of others

A few days ago, my friend and I were walking to the Atrium. While we were on the sidewalk outside of LaFollette, two girls road past us side-by-side on bicycles. The girls were looking at each other and swerving all around the sidewalk. There were many students walking near us, but one of the girls on the bikes swerved toward me. I had to jump out of the way and push my friend over to avoid being hit.

Many of the bicyclers make it dangerous for the walkers. I just wish that they could be more considerate because we are all trying to get somewhere on the same, small piece of concrete. There are many bicycle riders who are kind to walkers. A few days ago I witnessed a biker riding through the grass and ducking under the trees to avoid colliding with a sidewalk full of pedestrians. I am not saying that you should ride your bike through the grass, but maybe just giving us walkers a heads up as you are about to pass us would be greatly appreciated.
