OUR VIEW: Do something about it

AT?ISSUE:?If students are so offended by Facebook changes, they should stop using the site

By now, everyone who uses Facebook has noticed the changes and formed an opinion.

If you think Facebook has gone too far by highlighting every change made to a profile, then do more than complain, stop using it.

The information listed on each profile is the same; it is still up to each individual what personal information he wants to post on the Internet.

Don't form Facebook groups to protest - all that does is increase the pages viewed and the amount of money the Web site makes from advertisers.

People whining about the Facebook changes are a lot like the people who complained about increased cigarette taxes.

Facebook, like smoking, is an addiction.

Not many people quit smoking when taxes were increased; and not that many people will stop using Facebook because of the changes.

Both groups of people lack follow-through and true commitment. If they really wanted to protest, they would quit buying cigarettes and quit using Facebook.

It takes more than words to change what you do not like. It takes action.

Be prepared to do more than join a Facebook group protesting the modifications made to the site, or stop whining.

If you aren't willing to fight to the end for the "old facebook," fighting really has no use at all.
