Fraternity to hold charity concert tonight

Students still in Muncie on tonight can join Zeta Beta Tau fraternity for music and fundraising at LaFollette Field.

The charity concert will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature the Fort Wayne band Northpointe at 8 p.m.

WCRD 91.3 FM will play music from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. while the concert is set up.

The cost of admission will be $2, or two canned food items. All money raised will benefit the Children's Miracle Network and the canned food items will fill shelves in local Muncie food pantries.

Another band, Blame it on Rio, was supposed to play as well, senior Shawn Blazier, Zeta Beta Tau member, said. The band broke up this week however, and so the fraternity was looking for another band to play in its place.

"ZBT has been trying to plan it since last year," Blazier said. "It's more of a welcome week activity, a chance to meet brothers and listen to good music."

Looking forward to Friday's event, junior Josh Peterson, a member of Zeta Beta Tau, said he saw the concert as a sign of the Zeta Beta Tau house becoming more of a force on the Ball State campus.

"This is our really big year," he said. "We are pushing bigger events and looking for an overall better year."

Brown said Zeta Beta Tau has not had a campus-wide event for a while so the fraternity did not know how many people would attend but he said he hoped to see a couple hundred students out on the field.
