Carmel police confiscate CPU from Ball State

The Carmel Police Department confiscated a Ball State University-issued central processing unit after the police executed a search warrant for the office of a university employee on Sept. 8, Glenn Augustine, senior director of University Communications, said.

The CPU was used by Richard Turgeon, senior information systems analyst for the Office of the Controller and Business Services. Turgeon was suspended on Sept. 11, and resigned later that week.

Augustine said the university is fully cooperating with police during the investigation, but could not comment on why the warrant was issued.

No representative from the Carmel Police Department was available for immediate comment.

The Office of the Controller and Business Services runs the accounting, bursar and loan and payroll and employee benefits offices, as well as other financial responsibilities for the university.
