WOMEN'S GOLF: Canadian golfer signs letter of intent to play at Ball State

The Ball State University women's golf team has signed Amy Roberts to a national letter of intent.

Roberts is from Toronto and played at the Don Mills College Institute.

As a participant in the Canadian National Junior Golf Championship for the past three years, Roberts has earned medalist honors in each of the last three seasons on the Ping Regional Junior Golf Tour. She has consistently ranked among the top 30 junior golfers by the Golf Association of Ontario since 2003.

Roberts recently notched a 20th-place finish with rounds of 79-77 at the Toronto Star Women's Amateur. In 2005, she posted four top-six finishes at provincial tournaments, including rounds of 74-78 at the Ontario Junior Masters.

"Amy is a very good athlete and student," coach Katherine Mowat said in a press release. "She has worked extremely hard to be at the point where she is at to continue to play golf at the collegiate level. Amy has a tremendous work ethic and passion for the game. I am excited to have her join our program at Ball State."
