MOBILE, Ala. - The GMAC Bowl has been rescheduled to the day before the national championship game in 2007.
The bowl in Mobile, Ala., between Conference USA and Mid-American Conference or Western Athletic Conference teams has been played the week before Christmas the past seven years but will be broadcast by ESPN at 8 p.m. EST, on Jan. 7, 2007.
"This move puts the GMAC Bowl in a unique and exciting position on the college bowl calendar for the upcoming season," MAC commissioner Rick Chryst said in a press release.
GMAC Financial Services has sponsored the game since its inception in 1999 and has extended its commitment through 2010.
Toledo routed the University of Texas-El Paso 45-13 in the 2005 GMAC Bowl.
