Muncie Summertime Preview: Beer and Music

With the arrival of summer, many students have taken long-awaited trips abroad or to big cities such as Indianapolis and Chicago. Meanwhile, some students remain in Muncie for summer classes, work or internships. But Muncie isn't the middle of nowhere and the town offers a wide variety of entertainment opportunities.

Next door to Doc's lies the Heorot, a medieval-themed bar complete with large, beer-hall-style tables and jousting sticks on the wall. Instead of hard liquor and cocktails, the Heorot offers more than 350 varieties of domestic, microbrew and imported beer, as well as a small food menu. It has open mic nights Thursdays at 9 and special deals on pizza and beer on Fridays. The Heorot is a great place to spend an evening with friends.

For people who love music but not the concert crowds, Village Green Records offers a wide selection of new and used CDs and vinyl, including records by local artists. Owner Jared Cheek said the store will also have the occasional concert during the summer, including a summer cookout and concert May 28.
