Police investigate tire slashings

Police say they received numerous reports of vehicle vandalism near downtown Muncie on Tuesday morning. Senior Erin Winzenread, of 519 W. Charles St., said two of her car tires were slashed sometime between 9:30 p.m. Monday and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. The reporting police officer told Winzenread she was the 13th person that morning to report slashed tires. Winzenread said her neighbor's car and landlord's truck were also vandalized. Assistant Director of Public Safety Bob Fey said students should report acts of vandalism to the police immediately for two reasons. Insurance companies need proof if a student is filing for assistance and the police would like the information to track and prevent crime in certain areas. Police are investigating the incidents.
