Student input is the key to successful campus changes.
Asking for student opinions has been a priority of Team Us and the Student Government Association during this academic year - and that can only mean good things for Ball State University.
SGA polls of the student body haven't always happened as quickly as SGA had planned - and many could argue SGA should be doing even more surveying of the student body. Still, overall, any attempt SGA makes to incorporate student opinions and ideas will benefit both the operation of this university and the students attending it.
But that cooperative move toward positive changes starts with the students of Ball State logging on, taking the surveys and giving honest answers. It's a quick way to help improve campus facilities, like the shuttle buses, that most of us use every day.
From the technology survey that's been available in university computer labs all year to the shuttle bus system survey posted online Wednesday, SGA has been asking students the types of questions that should lead to progress on this campus. SGA's requests for student input should lead to proposals and legislation the student body can stand up for, support and help bring into action.
And with the "cutting-edge cool" online surveys, they've made it easier than actually walking to the Student Center and attending a meeting.
The fact is: Students who don't participate in opportunities to improve their campus lose the right to complain about the services offered.
So take the chance SGA has presented by answering the 10 simple questions at portal.bsu.edu/inqsit/inqsit.cgi/AAIR. And when surveys about The Loop appear, cast your votes on that matter as well.
In fact, voting in the upcoming SGA elections might be the best way to show your support of candidates who make a priority of asking for your opinions before making their decisions.
Use your votes to show what matters to you - that's where positive campus change will come from.
