Ball State University's 2005 Homecoming Kick-Off games featured a variety of events in Irving Gym Monday night. In one part of the gym, relay races required members of two teams to travel across the gym with a balloon between their legs. The second member of each team then rode a tricycle across the gym and tagged the hand of the third team member, who hopped across the gym in a potato sack. The final members of the teams had to run over to a plate of colorful bubble-gum balls and stuff a couple in their mouths to blow the winning bubble.
In another part of the gym, student teams participated in tug-of-war competitions to the loud cheers and applause of the crowd. Participating students focused intensely on pulling at their sections of the rope, many laughing and shaking their hands from rope burn at the end of each competition.
Laughter and excitement also filled the air as students filled the stands Monday, clapping to the routines of the cheerleading squad and the Code Red dancers. Throughout the Homecoming Kick-Off, many students ran around the gym and several others enjoyed random tricycle rides. Others danced to music that blared in the background.
