TRACK Cards get 12 personal records over weekend

The Ball State track team set 12 personal records at Penn State's Sykes-Sabock Challenge this weekend. Those 12 PRs helped the Cards finish in ninth out of 13 teams with 34 points, behind host Penn State.

Leading the way for the Cardinals was senior Ashley Gillies, who was third in the high jump with a career-high 5 feet, 6 inches. Also finishing in the top five were junior Jill Scully and sophomores Terri Abraham and Amanda Barnhart. Scully was fifth in the 3,000 meters (9:36.34) while recording a new personal best. Meanwhile Abraham was fifth in the triple jump (38-0 3/4) and Barnhart in the long jump (19-1 1/2).

Freshman Yvonne Ferguson continued her torrid best in the 200, finishing seventh (24.68), followed by classmate Christina Whitt, who was 18th (25.17). Fellow freshmen Katie Koehler (mile) finished with her best time of the season (5:16.32) as did sophomore Rose Lehe (5:01.11), who finished 12th.

Ball State returns home next weekend when they host MAC-rival Miami and Western Michigan.
