Sophomore shortstop Taylor Yancey was named Monday the first Mid-American Conference Player of the Week for 2005.
Yancey batted .462 with six hits and three RBI over a four-game span Feb. 12-13 at the Ole Miss Rebel Classic. She also had a perfecting fielding percentage at shortstop and was named to the all-tournament team.
The Cardinals went 1-3 at that tournament and have not played since. They will take part in the Louisville Tournament on Friday through Sunday.
