Senior men's track and field member Paul Panning was named an All-American for the second time this year. This time it was for his academic success.
Panning was named to the Academic All-America Third Team after being selected to the Academic All-District V Team.
Last week Panning finished 10th in the pole vault at the NCAA Championships to earn All-American honors for the second straight year.
He holds both the indoor and outdoor school record in the pole vault with heights of 17 feet, 5 1/2 inches and 17 feet, 11 inches, respectively.
Panning graduated as a management information systems major from the Miller College of Business with a 3.423 grade point average. He did complete his senior season with a 4.0 GPA.
"He embodied what I preached about being a student-athlete," former head coach Jim Sprecher said.
