I was so pleased to read that the new president of the university was given a 28 percent increase in pay. It is so heart warming to know that she will be able to survive the hefty Muncie cost of living on $260,000 a year. I'm sure the free house and car will ease her suffering as well.-á
I was even more overjoyed to hear that my wife's BSU annual increase was a whopping 2.5 percent (approximately $600), and the cost of the health insurance premiums went up as well. I'm sure our children will understand when we have to tell them "NO," every time they ask for something that is not a necessity, such as treats or movies, or a night out for pizza.-á Or '"NO" son, you have to wear your brother's old clothes. We can't afford to buy you new ones.' They will understand when we tell them '"NO," we can't go to visit Grandma this month because we can't afford the gas.'
And I truly hope the university will understand when I tell them "HELL NO!!!" the next time they ask me for another donation for a massive concrete building or ridiculous bell tower/McKinley Avenue speed bump.
