Students exchange literacy techniques

Ball State students are exchanging literacy techniques with students from Denmark.

The Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry is sponsoring the collaboration with the Silkeborg Seminarium in Denmark.

Danish students visited Ball State for the first half of the exchange. The students observed elementary schools with Amish, Hispanic and African-American students.

To help the younger students learn to read, they performed "Readers Theatre."

"Stepping out from the known into the unknown gives everything a fresh, new perspective," Melinda Schoenfeldt, project coordinator and assistant professor of elementary education, said.
