LETTER: Campaign does its job, Muncie needs to re-focus efforts

Dear Editor,

I'm tired. I'm tired of being pushed around by Muncie Police. I'm tired of being blamed. I am not against the "Police Yourself"campaign issued by the university. This is just the university's reaction (and warning) to Muncie Police Department's "cracking down" on students. I am against the "crackdown" of Muncie. They claim that the crackdown was to established control of the unruly parties off of Ball State's campus due to complaints of the Muncie residents. Parties have always happened at Ball State. Why the sudden "crackdown" now?

Why beat around the bush? If they want to make the communities safer due to recent events, why don't they just say so? Why is there a need to blame the students? I do not like being a scapegoat.

Rather than marching into Ball State and arresting students, I suggest cleaning up the rest of Muncie first. It was residents of Muncie that have caused recent havoc at this campus. I am tired of being made an example. I write this letter shortly after receiving a minor consumption violation. I decided to stop going to "big" parties at the start of the "Police Yourself campaign. I was written this ticket while at a friend's house where there were six people beside myself. Five squad cars arrived at the party (one of which being a canine unit). Two minor consumption tickets were given out. What are you trying to prove Muncie?
