JC CHASEZ "SCHIZOPHRENIC"

Jive Records

None of us thought that we would ever take a member of *NSYNCseriously longer than maybe one or two songs, yet the bulk of JCChasez's solo debut is as good as anything out there right now. Infact, it's almost disturbing that it's this entertaining. He maystill be singing to the women in the room, but his persona, lyricmatter, and musical range have far matured. High points of thealbum are the crazy chorus of "100 Ways," the throbbing pulse of"Shake It," the 80's-synth-pop flavor of "All Day Long I DreamAbout Sex," and "Come To Me," a song so contextually dirty thatyou're going to have to take a shower afterwards. Counterbalancingthis are the production roadblocks his friend Justin didn't have todeal with. This crew should have collected a little more experiencebefore it tried some of the tricks it attempted and failed here. JCis no leading man, but for 76 minutes he comes closer than Chris,Lance, or Joey ever will.
