BSU: Police Yourself

Ad campaign begins tomorrow

Ball State officials have called a press conference today to announce an advertising campaign meant to let students know what can happen to them if they are arrested off-campus.

The campaign, "Police Yourself," began with an e-mail from Doug McConkey, vice president of student affairs, to all students on Monday. It will continue with weekly advertisements that will be published in the Daily News and e-mailed to students, Heather Shupp, executive director of University Communications, said.

"The real intent is to let students know what the consequences are," Shupp said.

Acting President Beverley Pitts will be sending letters home to parents of current and prospective Ball State students, and the University Police Department will begin patroling neighborhoods earlier, Shupp said.
