WOMEN'S SWIMMING Cards whip UIC, lose conference meet to Bowling Green

Coming off an easy 164-69 win over the University of Illinois-Chicago on Friday night, the Ball State women's swimming and diving team was unable to continue the success Saturday, falling 196.50-102.50 to Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green.

The Cardinals whipped UIC, winning nine of 11 events and sweeping the top-three in five events. Michelle Braden (200-yard freestyle), Erin Johnson (200-yard IM), Cassandra Pavlovich (1-meter diving), Michelle Arakgi (200-yard fly) and Karla Bailey (200-yard breast) won those events.

Pavlovich continued her successful season also winning the 3-meter event. Brittany Sayler (100-yard freestyle), Mary Brinkoetter (200-yard backstroke) and Brittany Mishler (500-yard freestyle) added wins in their respective events. The 400-medley relay team also won their event.

Against Bowling Green, Ball State won two of 16 events, but added nine second- and third-place finishes apiece.

Kait Martin won the 100-yard backstroke, and Emily Aubie took the 400-yard IM to lead the Cardinals. Aubie also added a second-place in the 200-yard butterfly.

Joey Duncan (1000-yard freestyle), Karla Bailey (100-yard breaststroke), Sarah Welter (100-yard freestyle), Sayler (200-yard backstroke) and Braden (400-yard IM) added second place finishes for the Cardinals. Pavlovich added to the previous night's two wins with a second place in the 1-meter. The 400-medley relay team also brought home a second place.

Ball State (9-5 overall, 2-4 in the MAC), hosts Marshall and Ohio this weekend. These are the final two dual meets of the season for the Cardinals.
