Ball State players swept the latest West Division Player of the Week Awards, with junior Matt McCollom and senior Johna Goff taking the honors. Both the men's and women's teams won two games last week.
McCollom averaged just six points heading into last week but erupted for 21 points against Central Michigan and 15 at Miami. He hit all five of his three-point attempts on the week, including the game-winner with a minute remaining Saturday, as Ball State won at Miami (56-50) for the first time since 1992. On the season, he is averaging 7.8 points, including 13.4 in conference play.
Goff compiled 21 points and five assists at Ohio in a 73-70 win, then recorded 20 and seven, respectively, as Ball State topped Akron 81-62. Goff, who received her sixth Player of the Week award, is currently third on the school's all-time scoring list.
The men's team (7-6, 4-1 MAC) welcomes Northern Illinois (7-9, 2-4) to Worthen Arena tonight. The Huskies, preseason West Division favorites, were blasted 80-59 at Ohio on Saturday.
