Ball State creates all-discipline honor society

Ball State has added a chapter of the all-discipline honorsociety, Phi Kappa Phi.

Members must be invited to join Phi Kappa Phi, which requires anomination and approval by the college or university chapter.

Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniorsare eligible for membership, according to a press release.

Graduate students, faculty, professional staff and alumni whohave achieved scholarly distinction may also qualify.

Phi Kappa Phi awards more than $500,000 each year to qualifyingmembers through scholarships, awards and grants.

Phi Kappa Phi was founded in 1897 at the University of Maine.New membership totals 34,000 each year from the more than 285campuses across the United States, Puerto Rico and thePhilippines.

An inauguration ceremony for new officers will be held Oct. 27at the Student Center.
