Cardinals receive academic accolade

Ball State's football team was awarded with honorable mention for the 2003 Academic Achievement Award. The award was announced by the American Football Coaches Association and is presented by the Touchdown Club of Memphis.

Ball State earned the mention by belonging to a group of 31 U.S. institutions to have a graduation rate of at least 70 percent. The football team had 44 players earn at least a 3.00 grade point average for the 2003 spring semester while 33 maintained a cumulative 3.00 GPA. Duke University won the Academic Achievement Award for graduating 100 percent of its senior class.

Ball State had a five 2003 Academic All-Americans, including junior Travis Barclay who has a cumulative GPA of 3.98.
