Simcoe no longer with Ball State team

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL

Lindsay Simcoe will not be returning to the Ball State women's volleyball team this season, according to head coach Randy Litchfield. Simcoe, who was redshirted last year in what would have been her freshman season, no longer fits into the Cardinals' plans Litchfield said.

"After a full calender year of training with us, we came to the conclusion that she was not going to see much court time with us," Litchfield said. "I gave her the chance to try out for us in the fall, or I told her that I could help her find some place else to play. She's looking to play."

While in the end the decision was mutual, Litchfield feels that Simcoe was rather disappointed.

"She really wanted to make a career of it at Ball State," Litchfield said.

Simcoe, a back-court player from Warsaw, Ind., was part of a strong Ball State recruiting class that included middle attacker Kristin Westhof, and outside attackers Stephanie Bacan and Sarah Obras. Obras was named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year last season. In her senior high school season, Simcoe served as co-captain for her team and was named an All-Northern Lakes Conference honorable mention.

According to Litchfield, Simcoe is considering different schools to continue her career, including Indiana State University and Belmont University.
