Support Pi Beta Phi, Arrow Games

It's time once again, greeks, to open your hearts and your minds for a great cause. This week is the annual Pi Beta Phi sorority Arrow Games philanthropic.

We all claim to care. We all claim to give to charity. But now, it's time to show it.

As a supporter and participant of Arrow Games, I can personally tell you it is a weeklong festival of everything imaginable to suit all your tastes. There is a date auction and euchre tournament on Monday at 7 p.m. in the Student Center.

For athletes, basketball and volleyball are on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, respectively, at 7 p.m. in Irving Gym. On Thursday, the annual karaoke contest will be held at Dill Street Bar & Grill, 421 N. Dill St., and rest assured Matt Billman, Matt Spottswood and I will be back to avenge last year's bitter defeat.

The great thing about Arrow Games is that besides being a good time and an excellent opportunity to build brotherhood among the various fraternities on campus, it is also a great way to help those in need in our community. In years past, Arrow Games' profits went mostly to a national Pi Beta Phi foundation.

This year a change was made, and the majority of the proceeds will be donated to A Better Way Foundation, a non-profit venture that helps battered women and families in the Muncie area.

The event is open to fraternity men, but sorority women shouldn't feel left out this year. Pi Beta Phi is encouraging sororities to come out and support your favorite fraternity men as they compete for individual championships in the respective events and overall championship.

I hope most of you will give a little of your time to the great endeavor that Pi Beta Phi is sponsoring this week. After countless e-mails from those who wanted ideas about how to build our greek identity, this is a great way to start.

Greeks play hard, work hard and give of themselves. Through this week's events we can do all three as a community.

The Pi Phis have worked tremendously hard planning and organizing this week. We as fraternity men can play hard this week and compete for the various titles. As an active community of fraternity men and sorority women we can give of ourselves a little to help out a worthwhile charity that can never receive too much funding.

So, greeks, it's time once again to step up to the plate and do what we do best. This is another opportunity to show those around us we are more than a party, better than all the negative publicity and still the best role models for collegiate life. Go and support the Pi Phis, and I'll see you at the games.
