Eatery offers cozy environment

The White River Landing restaurant, 117 W. Charles St., is more like a rustic cabin than a typical restaurant, but its environment is so cozy its like dining at home.

Owners Mike and Marcia Thompson have spent a good deal of time and money nurturing their eatery. Originally from Michigan, the Thompsons said they wanted bring a little bit of their home state with them.

The restaurant is filled with hunting and fishing memorabilia. The restaurant advertises itself as being "the home of the panini sandwich."

Adam Quirk, a waiter, said paninis are the restaurant's best-sellers. There are 14 different varieties available.

"The panini sandwich started when we were visiting Paris and they were serving them there," Marcia said. "Alley Oops was another restaurant we owned in our current location before it became White River Landing two years ago, the panini was a very popular seller at Alley Oops so patrons asked us to keep it."

The menu of White River Landing has different headings that pertain to fishing. Their children's menu is cutely called the minnow's menu.

The menu offers a wide variety of selections and the food is reasonably priced.

White River Landing is located in downtown Muncie, just around the corner from the Horizon Center. It is open Mondays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call White River Landing at 286-8133.
