Still Leading The People: Hall vandalism prompts angry retort

In case you don't know the definition of the word "deface," it means to mark or spoil the appearance or surface of, disfigure (The American Heritage College Dictionary 3rd Edition). I personally think some of the guys on my floor defaced my door. I mean let's face it, "I'm racist against white people" as one resident told me last week in a drunken stupor. I will not say any names, but I will say, "the first male on Earth" and you take it from there.

On my door, the first thing I put it is a beautiful Great Kings & Queens of Africa poster. It has many leaders on it; I'd had it in three different resident halls and nothing had been done to it. I move into a different building with mostly freshmen (I have nothing against freshmen, just some of the choices they make) and it gets defaced.

There was a piece of gum stuck between Khama III, Cleopatra VII, Menelek, and Affonso I. In order to get in that spot, you have to bend down to do it. I figured this out when I looked at it and tried to re-enact what might have happened. So I closed the door and tried to touch the gum on the door. I was walking past the door but I couldn't touch it. I'm only 5'5" and I couldn't touch it. I had to bend down to touch it and many of the guys on my floor are taller than me.

Instead of taking the gum off, I left a note on my message board that read: "Who Did It?!?! Leave The Gum On the Poster! I want all the people to see it: Racism or even worse, stupidity?" Just to make sure nobody would take it off, I used a battery box to enclose the gum.

Onto the other scenario, I awoke early on a Saturday to take a shower before I went to work (I'm a Multicultural Ambassador). In a smaller sense I'm a tour guide for the campus. I also go to classes to talk about multiculturalism, etc.

I opened my door to find both of my door decorations on the floor about two doors down and all balled up. I didn't see anybody's but mine on the floor. Hmmmm ... I know I took a few moments to analyze the situation and to think. So, I did the only reasonable thing I could think of, I unballed both of them and taped them back to my door.

I challenge those who defaced my door to step up to me. I live in Woody/Shales or you can e-mail me. Trust me, I'll reply to it.
