The Delaware County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting after a man was shot by a deputy in Eaton, Indiana.

Deputies responded to the 400 block of East Church Street around 9 p.m. Tuesday for a domestic disturbance.

The scene is approximately 12 miles away from Ball State's campus.

The male, whose name has not been released, was shot in the leg and was taken to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Delaware County Sheriff Ray Dudley said the preliminary investigation shows the shots were fired in what appears to be self-defense.

Dudley said the male is receiving treatment for a non-life threatening injury and will be arrested once released from the hospital.

None of the deputies or Eaton police officers who were in the area at the time were injured.

The case will be turned over to the prosecutor's office, Dudley said.
