Gov. Arts Awards to be hosted in Muncie

Downtown Muncie is under the spotlight this weekend, with members of the Indiana Arts Commission and art lovers from all over the state coming to experience the forms of art the community has to offer. The Indiana Arts Commission chose Muncie to be the host of this year's Governor's Arts Awards Ceremony, which will be held at 8 p.

Muncie resident arrested in front of Architecture Building

A Muncie resident was arrested for misdemeanor possession of marijuana Wednesday night, after he lost control of his vehicle in front of the Architecture Building. The driver of a red Pontiac was traveling westbound on Petty Road, when the right, front wheel fell off his car as he crossed McKinley Avenue.

Rehearsals were held last night for what is expected to be the biggest event of Homecoming week. Homecoming Air Jam committee chair Abby Mills said because it's such a big event, it is important to keep the performances tasteful. She, along with other committee members, gave constructive criticism for each group of performers at the rehearsal.

FOOTBALL: Backup running back to get more playing time against Auburn

From across the practice field first-string tailback MiQuale Lewis coached second-stringer Cory Sykes through his interview. "Tell him you're the fastest in the MAC," Lewis said. Sykes did his best to ignore Lewis, but when the reporter forced the issue Sykes admitted just how fast he was.

The top 10 student royalty candidates competed last night to impress alumni and potential judges with their wit, personality and charm. Of the two or three dozen Ball State University alums at the Royalty Social last night, about five of them were judges.

The Fall Career Fair is today in Worthen Arena from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Career Center and helps students make connections with potential employers. More than 100 businesses will be presented at the Career Fair. Joe Goodwin, the assistant director of the Career Center, has provided students with some tips for the interview process.

Speaker to present chemical processes used in art

For most people, paintings, photographs and sculptures are synonymous with artwork, but Suzanne Lomax of the National Gallery of Art will introduce art from a different angle. Lomax will present "Chemistry as Art," a talk focusing on the application of different techniques used to preserve and restore artwork, the examination of different mediums and the composition of art pieces.

Former Ball State dean dies at age 82

Earl L. Conn, a retired Ball State University journalism professor and founding dean of the College of Communication, Information, and Media, died Sunday at Ball Memorial Hospital. He was 82. Marilyn Weaver, Ball State Department of Journalism chairwoman, said she will remember Conn's love for the university's journalism program and CCIM.
