Ball State students share their experiences as Indy 500 princesses

This spring, 33 young ladies were chosen as ambassadors for the Indianapolis 500 Festival. They represented 13 Indiana colleges and universities and 24 cities and towns based on their community and volunteer involvement, poise, academic performance and communication skills. Three such young women were Ball State students.

Lawsuit says contractor OK'd shoddy weapons

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A former employee of an Indiana defense contractor has filed a whistleblower lawsuit claiming the company ordered him to approve parts for machine guns used by U.S. troops that didn't meet quality standards, and that he was fired for complaining about it.

While many orchids at Ball State's Christy Woods are donated legally from across the nation and across the world, some found a second home in east central Indiana after they were recovered from orchid smugglers looking to cash-in on the world's rarest and most threatened plants.
