Dancing Pros: Live takes Emens

At 7 p.m. Friday night, John R. Emens Auditorium flooded with an unexpected crowd. Dancing Pros: Live appeared for a performance at Ball State.  For an event held on a college campus, there were few college students in attendance.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL: Ball State defeats Central Michigan 3-1

The Ball State women's volleyball team defeated Mid-American Conference foe Central Michigan on the road Friday. This is the Cardinals' second consecutive win. Defense led the way for Ball State as they held Central Michigan to just a .130 attack percentage. Ball State also registered 13 total blocks, led by redshirt junior Hayley Benson with two solo blocks and four assists. Amanda Raker added one solo block and four assists, and Sabrina Mangapora had one solo block and two assists.

Many bars and restaurants are open late into the night, but around midnight, something else joins the village—hot dog stands. For some students, getting a hot dog during their night out is a tradition.

FOOTBALL: Secor named finalist for award

Ball State football kicker Scott Secor has been named a semifinalist for the 2014 Lou Groza Collegiate Placekicking Award, presented by the Orange Bowl. Secor is one of 20 kickers under consideration for the award, which takes its name after the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, who spent 21 seasons with the Cleveland Browns. Secor’s 21 field goals are tied for first in the nation, and his field goal percentage of .808 is third. Finalists will be announced on Nov.

FOOTBALL: Tired defense can't hold Northern Illinois rushing attack

The more Northern Illinois ran, the more exhausted Ball State’s defense became. During the Cardinals 35-21 loss to the Huskies, Northern Illinois amassed 283 rushing yards, most coming in the second half. With the rush defense growing weary, Ball State lost control of the game. “We played extremely well defensively until the very end, when we got worn down,” Ball State head coach Pete Lembo said.

Police searching for car that struck student last night

Police are looking for the car that ran over a Ball State Student’s feet near Studebaker West Complex late last night. Anna Moore was sitting on the curb of Neely Avenue near Studebaker West Complex smoking a cigarette when a car rolled over her feet and continued down the street, Joan Todd, a university representative said.

'Baby' to premiere at Strother Theatre

In their senior year as musical theatre majors, best friends Sam Malone and Laura Sportiello finally have what Sportiello calls “a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to act together in Ball State’s production of the musical Baby. After meeting during their freshman year, the two actresses have been best friends but have never had the chance to work on the same production together, despite their shared major.
