FOOTBALL: Rich Skrosky reportedly named head coach at Elon

Ball State football with be without one assistant coach for its bowl game. It was reported Wednesday afternoon that offensive coordinator Rich Skrosky will become the head coach at Elon. Skrosky, who has spent the last three seasons at Ball State under head coach Pete Lembo, will be introduced Thursday at noon as the new head coach, according to The Pendulum.

FOOTBALL: Reports say Pete Lembo interviews with Connecticut today

Ball State football head coach Pete Lembo is on the road recruiting, but some are speculating he is interviewing for a coaching vacancy. Pete Roussel of coachingsearch.com reported Lembo was set to interview with Connecticut athletics director Warde Manuel in Atlanta today about the job. The Daily News confirmed Lembo isn’t in Muncie, but could not confirm where exactly he is.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Fontaine’s three-point play sparks Cardinals

Head coach Brady Sallee watched his team’s 22-point lead evaporate. With 4:35 left, the Ball State women’s basketball team was tied with Western Kentucky at 68. Sophomore Nathalie Fontaine worked herself deep into the post, where junior Shelbie Justice found her with a lob pass. The Swedish transfer turned and fired, her opponent making contact with Fontaine as the ball rose through the air.

MENS' BASKETBALL: Poor shooting haunts Ball State in loss to Valparaiso

The diameter of the basketball rim at Worthen Arena is 18 inches. For the Ball State men’s basketball team Wednesday night, it seemed more like eight inches. Ball State shot 27-of-56 from the field in the 69-50 loss to Valparaiso. It was clear from the tipoff that the Cardinals would struggle to score in the game. On Ball State’s first possession, senior center Majok Majok was passed the ball down low.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Ball State falls to Auburn in Las Vegas

The Ball State women’s basketball team fell to 1-4 on the season with a 51-67 loss against Auburn in the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas. The team shot just 31.9 percent from the floor compared to Auburn’s 46.4 percent. Seniors Katie Murphy and Brandy Woody were a combined 0-10 on field goals.
