Ball State (7-19, 2-12 MAC) fell to Toledo (16-9, 8-6 MAC) Saturday despite leading for a majority of the game. The Rockets topped the Cardinals 63-62 in a game that went down to the very last second. Here are a few takeaways from Saturday’s duel in Worthen Arena.
Central Michigan took an 8-7 lead with 14:21 to go in the first half. It was short lived as Ball State’s Ishmael El-Amin nailed a 3-pointer 17 seconds later. Then, 30 minutes passed. It wasn’t until then that the Chippewas (19-8, 8-6 MAC) regained the advantage. They kept it for the remaining three and a half minutes to escape with a 64-57 win over the Cardinals (14-13, 5-9 MAC).
As the final four seconds clicked down, Brown received the ball in the post and dished it out to a wide-open Penny and she buried it but the buzzer had already sounded and Ball State Women's Basketball (7-19, 2-12 MAC) dropped their eighth straight game to Toledo (16-9, 8-6 MAC), 63-62.
Central Michigan (19-8, 8-6 MAC) would go on a 15-2 run in the final minutes of the game to steal a win over Ball State Men's Basketball (14-13, 5-9 MAC), 64-57.
2-0. That was the lead Burris had over the undefeated Delta Eagles at the start of Friday’s game. That was also the closest the Owls came to ending the Eagles’ win streak. Delta went on a 17-0 run after that basket and finished the first-quarter with a 23-4 lead.
A season-high overall score was not enough for Ball State Gymnastics to claim victory over Pittsburgh or West Virginia Friday.
Coming off of a narrow loss to Miami (Ohio) in Oxford, Ball State Men's Basketball (14-12, 5-8 MAC) sits out of reach for a BYE seed and are playing for a home game in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Hoosieroons face another challenge in Central Michigan (18-8, 7-6 MAC) at home on Saturday. Here's your scouting report.

A .147 to .292 gap in hitting percentage and 18 attack errors proved costly for No. 12 Ball State Men’s Volleyball (7-8, 1-4 MIVA) Thursday, as the team fell 3-0 to No. 15 Purdue Fort Wayne (9-7, 3-2 MIVA).

Coming off two consecutive losses for the first time this season, Buffalo (17-7, 9-4 MAC) was not taking this game with Ball State (7-18, 2-11 MAC) lightly. The Bulls came out with the losses to Bowling Green and Central Michigan on their minds, and they took it to the Cardinals (7-18, 2-11 MAC), 97-58.
The Cardinals went on an 18-7 run late to put them within one with five seconds left. Redshirt senior Tayler Persons’ 3-pointer at the buzzer was a bit off, and the RedHawks escaped with the win. Here’s was stood out in the Cardinals’ loss.

The late game surge wasn't enough to get the Cardinals out of the early hole they dug as Ball State Men's Basketball (14-12, 5-8 MAC) would fall to Miami (Ohio) (14-12, 6-7 MAC), 69-66.
In its fourth consecutive match against a ranked opponent, No. 12 Ball State Men’s Volleyball (7-7, 1-3 MIVA) will return to Worthen Arena Thursday to face No. 15 Purdue Fort Wayne (8-7, 2-2 MIVA).
