After going 34 days since its last road victory, Ball State was hungry for a win away from Muncie. It took an all-around team effort to take down Toledo, and that is exactly what the Cardinals did.
A two-point head start didn’t come back to hurt the Cardinals, as they went on to beat Toledo in their first matchup this year 60-58.
Luck was not on the Cardinals’ side at the ninth-annual Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play in Dade City, Florida. Despite entering the tournament as the No. 1 seed, Ball State placed sixth out of eight teams at the invitational after splitting both its matches Monday, followed by a loss to fellow Mid-American Conference rival Bowling Green in the fifth-place match Tuesday.
The Delta Eagles had a successful weekend at the regional competition. Seven wrestlers are advancing to the Semi-State competition this Saturday.
Ball State went on to win the game 63-59, defeating the top team in the Mid-American Conference West Division, and El-Amin led all scorers with 22 points, adding three rebounds and three assists to his total.
Ball State Women’s Golf harbored four top-10 individual finishes at the Battle of Boulder Creek Tuesday.
