Ball State sweeps Central Michigan in first home series

In Ball State’s first home series of the 2023 campaign, the Cardinals were able to bring out the brooms as they swept Central Michigan. “There's something special about this team when we're playing at home,” head coach Lacy Schurr said. “You know, this is my third season [as Ball State head coach] and there's something about being at home. If we have strikes and outs left on the board, we're still in the game.”

Cardinals split away series against Kent State

In the first game, the Cardinals fell 4-3 after the Golden Flashes hit a walk-off double. As a team, the Cardinals (11-12, 1-1 MAC) only had five hits. But the second game was a much different story as they launched a season high of 16 hits to win 15-9.

Ball State Softball wins one, loses three in Liberty Flames Classic

After splitting a mid-week series with East Tennessee State (4-16), Ball State Softball went 1-3 in the Liberty Flames Classic. The Cardinals (10-11) fell to Liberty (13-9), No. 23 Maryland (19-4) and split two games with Sacred Heart (7-8). A game was supposed to be played March 12 against Fairfield (3-9), however, it was canceled.

Ball State’s 2023 Season is here and the Cardinals are "chomping at the bit"

Ball State Softball’s first two seasons under head coach Lacy Schurr’s direction have been two different stories. In her first season, the COVID-19 season, the Cardinals went 37-18. The team broke a handful of program records including the most Mid-American Conference (MAC) wins (31) and the longest MAC winning streak with 16 games. Ball State also broke multiple statistical records including the best batting average (.329) and on-base percentage (.415) for a single season.

Softball closes Ohio Series with a walk-off win

After their doubleheader was pushed back from Saturday to Sunday due to weather concerns, Ball State Softball (13-21, 6-5 MAC) wrapped up a three-game series against Mid-American Conference (MAC) rival Ohio (15-18, 9-5 MAC) April 11 with a walk-off home run from sophomore infielder Kayla Lissy in the bottom of the seventh inning.

3 takeaways from Ball State Softball's road trip

In the bottom of the eighth inning, senior left fielder Faith Hensley stepped up to bat with the bases loaded. Towson senior pitcher Julia Jackson walked Hensley, advancing all baserunners, and sophomore right fielder Kaitlyn Mathews walked to home base to claim the 3-2 victory
