Escaping Islamic State group: How a Ball State professor and his family survived

Islamic State (IS), the terror group that has taken swaths of land in Iraq and Syria, has dominated the headlines within the last couple of years. The American public witnessed the discussion around the terror group take off in the presidential election. Most people know about the group, but it’s not common to look at them right in the eyes like a Ball State professor and his family had to do.

Weekend in Review: Thanksgiving Break

Thanksgiving brought a much-needed break for most Ball State students, but several Cardinals teams were still playing over break. When many students were driving home Tuesday night, Ball State football was taking on Miami (Ohio), men's basketball was in Las Vegas and women's basketball was in Savannah, Georgia. A pair of former Ball State football players also had a memorable week, including a championship in Canada.

KeVonn Mabon breaks Ball State all-time receptions record

Senior wide receiver KeVonn Mabon is now the leading pass catcher in Ball State football history. With a 7-yard catch in the second quarter of Tuesday's season finale against Miami, Mabon moved into first place on Ball State's all-time receptions list with his 239th career grab.

Ball State aims to double minority STEM students

Ball State has taken a farther step toward being inclusive by pushing to increase the number of racial and ethnic minority students who are science, technology, engineering and mathematics majors.

Future of Affordable Care Act

Change is inevitable when Trump takes office in 2017. One major change that will have a large impact on students is the potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare.
