Getting a book published is as easy as just "getting around to it" said a self-published author and business owner to more than 35 students and faculty members at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center on Wednesday night. Life long Indiana resident Delores Thornton is now a successful self-published writer and business owner who attributes her accomplishments to hard work and a lot of research.

University Senate says no more Saturday Finals

Starting during the 2007-2008 academic year, students will no longer have Saturday finals. University Senate approved the legislation that would remove Saturday finals from the academic calendar. Senators cut meetings to save time

Time to discuss student concerns was cut during Wednesday's Student Government Association meeting because special orders of business took time and priority. As the clock neared 5 p.m., senators approved the elimination of caucus meetings, cut committee meetings down to five minutes and skipped all committee reports except for Student Safety because it had legislation to read.

Ball State University's Electronic Field Trip program added more glamour to its already impressive resum+â-¬. The program, created by the Teachers College in 1996, recently received six more Telly Awards for last year's programs.

Ball State University was named as one of the 150 "best value" colleges in the nation in The Princeton Review's book "America's Best Value Colleges." Programs, including architecture, entrepreneurship, journalism, speech pathology and telecommunications, were highlighted in the book.

Gora: Women struggle to be equal

Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora told students, faculty and visitors that a woman's place in the workforce has changed over the years, but not enough. Gora spoke in Cardinal Hall in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center as part of Women's Week. In her speech, "The Challenges Women Face in the 21st Century," she addressed issues facing women in the workplace, including expectations of women, the gap between men and women and the need for women to be confident in themselves.

Final day lifts Ball State into seventh place finish

The Ball State University women's golf team concluded the UNC Wilmington Lady Seahawk Invitational Tuesday with a seventh place finish out of 13 teams. The individual medalist was Michelle Jarman of the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Ball State's three-round score of 935 was 29 strokes behind first place University of Kentucky.
