PARKING SERVICES: Department offers free motorist help

The Ball State University Department of Public Safety operates Motorist Assist Program. It is a free service, but motorists must sign a waiver that states the university will not be held liable for any vehicle damage. The service offers: Jump start Unlocking of vehicle doors Air in tires (vehicle and bike) Transportation to buy gas De-icer for frozen locks Shovel and abrasives for vehicles stuck on snow or ice The service is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.

During a five-month stretch, Noah Aberlin will have traveled over 14,000 miles visiting 14 states and four Canadian provinces, some for only one night. Aberlin, a member of the chorus and assistant stage manager for the forthcoming show, "The Producers," doesn't see much of those cities - usually a hotel and the theater, and, if he's lucky, a late-night dining venue.

Snow days rarely occur in a collegiate environment, but this week it happened twice. Students and faculty spent their Wednesday digging out vehicles and clearing pathways through more than a foot of snow. Although night classes still met Wednesday, some people found their travel inhibited.

Cardinal Lanes has high hopes that Ball State University will approve a plan that will offer free bowling and billiards to all students. Cardinal Lanes manager Scott Evans said free bowling and billiards could be made possible by adding $5 to every student's tuition for each semester.

Muncie sees third largest snowfall in 60 years; 1950 blizzard worse

Tuesday's blizzard blanketed Muncie in its third largest snowfall in the past 60 years, according to the National Weather Service. Muncie received between 10.5 and 11 inches of snow, with it getting as deep as 13 inches in nearby Alexandria and Winchester, Logan Johnson, a meteorologist at the NWS in Indianapolis said.

'Terri Dreams' receives award

More than 70 Ball State University students worked together to bring "The Terri Dreams" to life, winning seniors Adam Hicks and Nicholas Johnson Ball State's Creativity + Innovation award for February. Hicks and Johnson masterminded, produced and directed the project, which was a combination of live acting, music and a movie.

Students were still marching along stamped-out paths on the east side of campus Wednesday afternoon with no plow in sight. Other students walked along the plowed streets carrying shovels and dining trays preparing to dig out their cars from the snow. Among them were freshmen Greg Liebbe and Ian Davis, telecommunications majors.
