E-mail scams, digging through trash, stealing mail and creating fraudulent Web pages are just a few ways thieves can steal someone's identity. The Federal Trade Commission released its annual "Consumer Fraud and Identity Theft Complaint Data" list Wednesday.

Ball State University students bid on their last chances for a Valentine at the Zeta Phi Beta sorority date auction. Markita Cunningham, mistress of ceremonies, said the average bids were about $10 to $20. About 70 people showed up to the third-annual date auction, more than twice last year's turnout, she said.

In the first meeting this season between Ball State and Toledo, the Rockets won 58-54. Ball State led much of the game, but with 5:17 remaining, Toledo took the lead for good. Hoke signs enhanced contract

After two months of negotiations, Ball State University football coach Brady Hoke will enter the 2008 season with his named signed to an enhanced contract. After talks with President Jo Ann Gora and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Tom Collins, Hoke came to an agreement about the contract, which will raise his salary to $240,000 per year with additional incentives and a buyout clause.

Sorority to have date auction

Valentine's Day dates will sell to the highest bidder at the third-annual Zeta Phi Beta sorority date auction at 6:30. Zeta Phi Beta member Markita Cunningham said fraternity members, Black Student Association members and other students would be auctioned off.
