WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Ball State to honor Green at game

Porchia Green will have something to leave behind. The senior guard scored 1,000 points for the Ball State University's women's basketball team. "To leave something behind at Ball State is great," she said. "It's just fun." The commemoration for Green becoming the 19th Ball State women's basketball player to have scored 1,000 points will happen before the start of tonight's game against Central Michigan University.

Museum of Art to feature fairy tales

Students will have the chance to see fairy tales in a new light today at the Ball State University Museum of Art. "Almost Alice: New Illustrations of Wonderland," featuring art by Maggie Taylor, and "Fantasy and Fairy Tales," consisting of prints the museum collected over the past few years, open Friday.

GYMNASTICS: Athlete tranfers to Ball State from Alabama

A gymnast from the University of Alabama transferred to Ball State University to compete for the Cardinals, coach Nadalie Walsh announced Monday. Julie Cotter, who graduated from Northwestern Lehigh High School in Orefield, Pa., in 2008, enrolled at Alabama in the fall.

Practice pays for pair of piano players

Music instructor Robert Palmer worked with Jooyoung Kim and Mirinae Kim on their piano for 60 hours in the fall. The duo also practiced playing for hundreds of hours on their own, working to perfect their performances for an upcoming test. In November 2008, the graduate students won third place at the International Sergey Taneyev Chamber Music Competition, a prominent ensemble music contest held annually in Moscow.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards try to move on without Newell

The Ball State University men's basketball team doesn't have much time to consider the effect of losing its top all-around player to a season-ending leg injury. Ball State will play host to Northern Illinois University in a 7 p.m. matchup at Worthen Arena, three days after senior forward Anthony Newell - the team's leading scorer and rebounder - had season-ending surgery on a compound fracture to his right tibia and fibula suffered in Saturday's 46-42 win at Eastern Michigan University.

Nate Davis is not expected to make a decision on entering the NFL Draft until Wednesday, his brother Jose said Monday. The deadline for underclassmen to declare themselves eligible for the Draft is midnight Thursday. "This decision is his decision," Jose Davis said.

Student dies over break

Ball State University sophomore Sarah Woodruff is remembered as being aware of people who needed a helping hand or a kind word. Woodruff's mother Lucetta Woodruff said many people loved her daughter because she always noticed people who seemed unhappy and was willing to help them with their problems, sometimes when she didn't even know the person.
