Firefighters were called to Brayton/Clevenger halls in LaFollette Complex about noon today in response to a fire alarm. Students who were in the building were evacuated and accounted for by residence assistants outside the building. After more than 30 minutes, students were allowed to reenter the residence hall.

She reached for the landline, dialed the number and a friend quickly arrived to help. Many universities throughout the country are deactivating landlines in student housing because of the unnecessary cost and so many students using cell phones, according to an Associated Press article.
The last time a Ball State University swimmer broke the women's 200-yard breaststroke record, Emily Haifley was learning her ABC's in her kindergarten class. Now a freshman at Ball State, Haifley entered her name in the record books, shattering the 13-year-old record by two seconds by swimming a 2:19.
