Muncie medical mission helps Haitian people after earthquake

Connie Baldwin and Lee Ann Mengelt, two members of the St. Francis of Assis Parish in Muncie, have traveled to Plaisance, Haiti for the past 12 years, giving medical assistance to those in need. This year's trip was marked with the added devastation brought on by the earthquake eariler this year.

Wind was probable cause of Scramble Light malfunction

Police were at the Scramble Light directing traffic today after a wire on the lights got loose. The problem was detected by the controller, which sent a signal to the lights to blink red. Workers from the city of Muncie repaired the damage.

Three Ball State University athletes earned Mid-American Conference weekly honors, as announced by the MAC office Monday afternoon. Baseball's Kolbrin Vitek and Morgan Coombs and men's basketball's Randy Davis were selected for their productive weeks for the Cardinals.

BASEBALL: Arkansas stadium provides elite atmosphere

Arkansas has hosted four NCAA Regionals and one Super Regional in Baum Stadium. The field can hold more than 10,000 fans, and looks more like a minor league ballpark. Since it opened, both Baseball American and rivals.com have named it the best collegiate stadium in the nation.

Weekend patrons of the Center Stage bar were witnesses to Freak Show A Go-Go Saturday night in downtown Muncie. The event that had been scheduled for Muncie Gras went on as planned, and people got their fill of seeing performances including sword swallowing and fire breathing.

BASEBALL: Ball State takes one on the road from No. 15 Arkansas

Ball State used only two pitchers Saturday. Cal Bowling started the game and pitched four innings, allowing one run. Morgan Coombs (1-0) relieved the sophomore and threw five gutsy innings for the victory. The right-hander was in trouble throughout his outing, but was able to escape jam after jam. Arkansas had at least one runner on base in each of the first eight innings and stranded 12 in all.
