Zach Huffman, elections board chair, said having three slates running made the race more appealing. "I believe that all three slates featured very strong candidates who are very involved on Ball State’s campus,” he said. “Therefore they’re well connected with students.” The elections board had a partnership with the COMM 210 classes.

After a number of Ball State employees experienced tax fraud identity theft, the university responded with a help line and online information service. Starting March 9, employees can call the Identity Theft Information line, use the email or online information to help guide them through the process after identity theft, like filing a police report and how to file taxe. The Mid-American Conference's 12 head coaches honored Ball State freshman Sean Sellers on March 9 when he was selected to the 2014-15 MAC All-Freshman Team. Sellers leads all MAC freshmen in scoring this season at 11.9 points per contest. He scored 26 points in his collegiate debut against nationally ranked Utah and has put up double-figures in 18 games.
This season, Renee Bennett has started 15 games compared to three last year. She has increased her minutes by about five per game and her scoring and rebounding averages as well.
After a video of the Oklahoma University Sigma Alpha Epsilon chapter yelling a racist chant went viral Sunday night, the national fraternity closed the chapter and the university president ordered them to have all of their belongings out by “midnight tomorrow.”

Woodworth Commons is cutting back on paper goods due to spending $20,000 over budget. A supervisor of Woodworth’s dining facility posted a flier asking the staff to be mindful of the use of paper goods. The flier is instructing staff to put food in the china bowls unless a customer confirmed the meal as carryout. Jon Lewis, director of dining services, said the flier is a “management tool.” “The manager is just trying to get the staff to be aware we’re a little ahead on spending on paper goods,” said Lewis. According to the notice, Woodworth Commons is $20,000 over budget on paper goods.
When author Eliot Schrefer visited Ball State for the first time, he did it virtually through Skype. On Monday, Schrefer will finally step foot on university soil as part of the English Department’s Marilyn Cory Speaker Series. He’ll present his speech at 7 p.m. in the Art and Journalism Building, room 175.
Peer pressure is going to drive a lot of spending at Ball State. Northern Illinois announced last month that it would adopt a full cost of attendance structure within its athletic department.

The Ball State baseball team suffered a 16-1 defeat to in-state foe Indiana in its final game of the Snowbird Classic in Port Charlotte, Fla.
After its first three games of the Louisville Classic were cancelled, the Ball State softball team dropped both of its games on Sunday to fall to 10-13 on the season.
