Student, alumna meet actor Shia LaBeouf

A Ball State student interning with an Indiana newspaper caught up with “Transformers” actor Shia LaBeouf after the car he was riding in broke down Thursday during his hitchhiking trip across the country.

Four Cardinals selected in MLB Draft

Four Cardinals were selected in the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft this weekend. Junior right fielder Alex Call was taken in the third round by the Chicago White Sox, and junior catcher Jarett Rindfleisch was picked up by the Miami Marlins in the ninth round. Junior right-handed pitcher Zach Plesac was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 12th round and the Pittsburgh Pirates drafted sophomore right-handed pitcher/third baseman Colin Brockhouse.

Muhammad Ali, boxing legend dies at 74

Muhammad Ali, the three-time world heavyweight boxing champion and one of the most celebrated sports figure of the 20th century, died June 3 at the age of 74. Ali fought Parkinson’s disease for more than 30 years.

Geothermal project to be completed within a year

Ball State will soon be home to the biggest geothermal system in the world. Jim Lowe, associate vice president of facilities planning and management, said no one else thus far has come forward to say that their system is bigger.

Junior right fielder Alex Call has another award to add to his résumé after he was named the Louisville Slugger All-American first team, announced by Collegiate Baseball June 2.

LotusFest to bring relaxation, wellness

LotusFest is a wellness fair which will be from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 4 at the Lotus Yoga Studio. All proceeds from the event will be donated to A Better Way, which provides a variety of services, including those for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.
