MAC Medal of Excellence awarded to Alex Call, Shelby Merder

Each year, the Mid-American Conference awards two athletes, one male and one female, from the graduating classes of each of its member institutions the Medal of Excellence. This year, Ball State was represented by junior baseball player Alex Call and junior women's basketball player Shelby Merder.

Jeremiah Davis will continue basketball career at Georgia State

It appears Jeremiah Davis has found a new home. The Muncie native, who has recently been granted a sixth year of college eligibility, tweeted that he will continue his basketball career and attend graduate school at Georgia State University. Davis played 42 games in two seasons at Ball State, averaging 6.6 points and 2.8 assists while shooting .364 percent from the field.  He started the first two games of this season, but lost his spot in the rotation and played in just four of the Cardinals' final 17 games.

Despite cost, CIT gave Ball State chance to experience postseason

After a 19-13 regular season, Ball State accepted a bid to play in the CollegeInsider.com postseason tournament. Teams in the tournament pay $38,000 to host a game, and Ball State athletic director Mark Sandy said the CIT game the Cardinals hosted on March 20 cost the athletic department about $25,000 after ticket sales and other income.

Nathalie Fontaine earns AP All-America Honorable Mention

Ball State women's basketball senior forward Nathalie time was selected as an All-America honorable mention by the Associated Press. Fontaine only one of 10 non-power five conference players and one of 42 players recognized. "We are very excited and appreciative of this recognition for Nathalie," head coach Brady Sallee said in a statement.

Players, students and alumni respond to men's basketball loss

Before the 2015-16 men's basketball season began, Ball State was picked to finish last in the Mid-American Conference by the MAC preseason poll. Ball State finished its season on March 23 in a 67-69 loss to Columbia in the quarterfinal match of the CollegeInsider.com Invitational Tournament.

Cardinals to play Iowa in WNIT

In the first round of the Women's National Invitation Tournament, Ball State women's basketball (21-9, 13-5 Mid-American Conference) will take on the University of Iowa (19-13, 8-10 Big Ten) tonight in Iowa City, Iowa. The Cardinals are led by senior guard Nathalie Fontaine, the program's career scoring leader and the MAC Player of the Year.

Men's basketball faces UT-Martin in CIT round 2

Worthen Arena will play host to at least one more men's basketball game this season as Ball State prepares to play the University of Tennessee Martin on March 20. The Cardinals moved on to the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament after a 78-73 double-overtime win against Tennessee State in the first round.
