Staff, students take on snow

Students were still marching along stamped-out paths on the east side of campus Wednesday afternoon with no plow in sight. Other students walked along the plowed streets carrying shovels and dining trays preparing to dig out their cars from the snow. Among them were freshmen Greg Liebbe and Ian Davis, telecommunications majors.

'Sex Talk' focuses on communication

Talking about sex can make people uncomfortable, passionate or even angry. Because sex is so controversial, Ball State University hopes to increase student awareness by conducting a "Sex Talk" at noon today in the L.A. Pittenger Student Center Pineshelf Room.

University offices stay open despite weather

Despite the blizzard outside that caused her to cancel classes, Ball State University President Jo Ann Gora said her schedule in the office on Tuesday proceeded normally. All her meetings continued as planned except a lunch scheduled with freshmen students who canceled on her, she said.

I'm pretty sure we all can say that the pottery scene from "Ghost" is quite romantic. When Noah picks up Allie in the pouring rain in "The Notebook," it was hot, and I guarantee 95 percent of the women who saw that movie wished they, too, would get to make out in a rainstorm with someone as hot as Ryan Gosling.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Ball State has single road win

Ball State University's men's basketball team will head to Northern Illinois University to try to turn around a struggling season. The Cardinals (8-16, 4-7 Mid-American Conference) already have one victory over the Huskies (6-17, 3-8 MAC), a 71-60 win on Jan.

MEN'S BASKETBALL: Cards able to earn victory without Mills

With leading scorer Skip Mills sitting out because of a concussion, Ball State University's men's basketball team needed everyone else to step up in his absence. Anthony Newell had a career high 21 points and earned his fifth career double double with 12 rebounds to lead the Cardinals to a 57-55 victory over Northern Illinois University Tuesday night.

University cancels Tuesday classes

Ball State University classes are cancelled for Tuesday, February 13, 2007 because of weather conditions. A blizzard warning is in effect for Delaware County until midnight. The National Weather Service is forecasting between 6- to 14-inches of snow to fall today.

Athlete remains on team despite knee injury

Middle attacker Ryan Clarke would play volleyball everyday for the Ball State University men's volleyball team if he could. However, he physically can't. Suffering from chronic knee tendinitis, a disease that results in inflammation from large amounts of activity, in both knees, the Cardinals' blocks leader has been limited, playing in 23 out of 36 games this season.

Irving Gym stays open despite snow

Canceled classes and more than 13 inches of snow left few options for students. Some of those viable options for students were the available open gyms, weight rooms, racquetball courts, basketball courts and other activities, thanks to Ball State University's Recreational Services.
